Once you nail the fit, it's a great pair of pants with the room to swing your leg over the seat of a bicycle or motorcycle and the weight to feel comfortable, but not overwhelmed with heat. I prefer the mid-rise to the low-rise of lesser denim. I like the extra inches to cuff, roll, or even cover my ankle when riding. These will be my all-season 'go-to' for comfort and style. Cheers!
Really amazing denim, especially of you live in a hot climate like I do. Lightweight, and it breaks in really quickly. I did a cold soak and hung it to dry. Nice mid rise, for reference, my 29s (which actually measure 30.5”, perfect for me) have a 10.7” front rise. Not jacked up, but comfortably higher. Love them. I also adore the mid weight Elgins, but I think the lighter weight is perfect for my living climate. Great, silvery light Indigo with a smooth hand, and top notch stitching, etc. Really nice people, too, especially Tony. They surprised me with one of their last Cone Mills 14.5 oz Elgins, which I was not expecting, adds some variety and some Americana to my collection.
This is my second pair of Elgins. I’m 6’2” 180lbs and the 32 waist and mid rise fit perfectly. The Tellason Elgin is one of the rare selvedge jeans made with premium denim in a mid rise, which, for those of us over 40, is a blessing.
These are really excellent quality. The fit is comfortably snug, with a nice higher rise. They are pretty crispy and coarse right out of the box, but it’s amazing what a single cold rinse, hang dry, and a few hours of wear can do. They soften up, little by little, with immediate fear of knee honeycombs. Beautiful Kaihara denim, and made in San Fran, which warms my heart. I love em. I actually bought two pairs of the 12.5 and two of the 14.5 in the Elgin, because I loved the cut so,much. The lighter ones have a slightly grayish, beautiful tint to them, so not dark blue. The 14.5s are more blue, and a bit darker. I would advise ordering one size down from your normal waist size. I usually go 30, but the 29s are perfect, and they gently give up to an inch in the Australian with wear. Gorgeous denim, love em.
I’ve been wearing my Tellason in the Elgin fit for 6 months now and absolutely love them. I’m pretty average in build, heigh, and weight, but find that most denim companies make the rise too low and the thighs too tight. Pete at Tellason worked directly with me to find my best fit. He went above and beyond to provide individual attention to my questions and I really appreciated that. Forever customer.
I Iike the finish and the fit is exactly a stated on the website
Great fit and quality.
These are my new favorite jeans. The fabric is reminiscent of the way shrink-to-fit Levis used to feel, but these only shrunk a tiny bit. Solid, stiff cotton that breaks in nicely to the body. They went from a bit baggy pre-wash to perfect post wash (air dry). I'm a 5'6" female, slender build, 118 lbs and the 30 fits great (not tight). I like the rise, it's comfortably high in the back and the front is right at my belly button. Perfect!
My wife doesn't know if yet, but she is now in a thruple with me and these jeans.
