Todd Blubaugh has been a close friend of ours for 11 years.  He lives an extraordinary life and has a clear vision about the gear that helps him during his travels.  We let Todd create this new jean from top to bottom.  Our sanforized 16.5 oz.proprietary Kaihara denim is our toughest so it was an automatic choice for us to use for The Blubaugh jean.  It has a mid-rise slim straight fit. Cut and sewn in San Francisco, Calif. USA.  Check out Todd's book.

A note from Tony & Pete

Occasionally, you meet the following types of people:

Butcher
Baker
Candlestick Maker
Jerk
Stunt Flyer
Shepherd
Swindler
Nomad

Our friend Todd Blubaugh checks a few of these boxes. The friendship began with Tony flying up to Seattle (year two for us) to do a promotion at Blackbird (RIP). They were one of the first five shops we sold to when we started. Tony ran a contest and was going to give a free pair for the person who brought in their most hammered pair of Tellason jeans. Todd arrived early and the contest was over. His pair was still one of the best old jeans we have seen. From there, our friendship grew.

Christmas 2014, Todd was passing through on his bike. We were neck deep in turkey etc... and an hour later, we hear the thump of his motor working its way up the hill. Once inside, Todd took over one of the four burners at the stove to melt down some bees wax to re-wax his jacket for the next day's wet ride north. Now, remember this is Christmas dinner here and burners are a hot commodity. My wife somehow reworked the timing of the whole dinner since that bees wax took about an hour to melt down. My youngest was fascinated with Todd's old world efforts and dinner came out just fine...

Back to jeans- we were ready for a new fit so we passed Todd the baton and gave him 100% freedom to create a jean based on exactly what his life on a bike is all about. The mid-rise keeps the draft down the bunz in check and the slightly slimmer straight leg is neither tight nor loose which allows for a little mobility without the leg panels flapping in the wind at +60 m.p.h. The leg opening derived from what Todd believes to be the perfect circumference around his Red Wing Engineer boot.

This is only available in our 16.5 oz orange line selvedge to keep things on the heavy side for Todd's rigorous life.

    Tough as Nails

I bought my first pair of Blubaughs in March of 2017. I wear them frequently and they are superb! Well crafted , 16.5 ounce denim that is durable but comfortable. The mid rise construction is perfect for long hours on a motorcycle . I soak them when they get super dirty ( or smell!) and they are holding up great. I have purchased another 2 pairs since 2017- I really dig them!!

    Perfect jeans

These are the jeans I’ve been looking for - perfect fit, not too loose and not too slim. The 16.5 oz denim is substantial but not too heavy. The different lengths just make it even better. Please do not ever stop making these.

This my third pair of jeans from Tellason (Ankara and JGM the first two). To me, these are a blend of the two previous pairs. Really like them and will buy another pair when these wear out. Also have a couple of shirts were are really great too.

One of The Best Fitting Denim!

Posted by Jeff on 31st Dec 2018

Ordered a pair of the Blubaugh’s (31x34.. my normal waist size) and I’m very much pleased with them!! Definitely loving the 16.5oz Cone Denim, especially the characteristics it gains from the initial soak. The top block fit a little snug when i first tried on the pair but quickly formed to my thighs after i took a quick shower with them on. The wider leg opening makes things easier when wearing engineer or other tall boots. The fit gets better and better after each wear. Get yourself a pair of badass jeans while Cone Denim is still available!

I wear these everyday. Need another pair so I can wear them at work and for dates with the ol’ lady Hahahaha. I’ll never wear another brand! Not to mention they’re made in the USA! Support American workers!

    Not made for Athletic builds

Posted by Oscar on 25th Jun 2017

I'm 5'7 weigh 135. I purchased the jeans in a size 29 waist, they were too tight around the thighs, and crouch, waist fit snug but not tight, I exchanged them for a size 31, the 31s fit around the thighs and glutes just fine but the waist was to loose and scrunched up with a belt. I ended up keeping them anyway and gave them away, I didn't need the the hassle of returning them.
